Last year, local activities have begun for a beekeeping project that was adopted as part of JICA's 2021 Small and Medium-sized Enterprise/SDGs Business Support Project.

☆☆☆ Overview of the "Small and Medium-sized Enterprises/SDGs Business Support Project" ☆☆☆
This project aims to use the excellent technologies, products, and ideas of companies to solve problems facing developing countries, promote overseas expansion for companies, and ultimately revitalize the Japanese economy. It is expected that by having companies across the country make widespread use of the program, it will also help revitalize local economies. The Republic of Vanuatu is an island nation located east of Australia and further east of New Caledonia.
The country consists of 83 islands scattered across an area of about 12,000 km stretching from north to south. The capital is Port Vila, a city on the island of Efate.
There are many tourists from Australia, New Zealand and other countries, and before COVID-19, tourism accounted for about half of the GDP.
Regarding honey, there are strict import regulations, and according to local people, "I have never seen honey being sold in supermarkets or anywhere else."

This project began when a local Japanese person who wanted to distribute honey within Vanuatu and revitalize industries other than tourism contacted SUGI BEE GARDEN.

We will continue to provide the latest information in this "Vanuatu Travelogue".
looking forward to!
