Unique production philosophy: "Healthy beekeeping"

A promise to the Earth.

In order to deliver delicious honey that is safe to eat, the natural environment that grows it must itself remain healthy.
As beekeepers, spending time with bees every day has given us a deeper understanding that beekeeping and agriculture are one in the great cycle of nature.

This is SUGI BEE GARDEN unique production philosophy, known as "healthy beekeeping," which it has cultivated for over 70 years since its founding.

Every day, they till the soil, grow crops, prepare the environment, and reap the rewards of nature.

Even outside of the honey harvesting season, the beekeepers at SUGI BEE GARDEN work hard all year round preparing the soil and cutting undergrowth with their own hands, carefully creating the environment for the apiary.
Of course, these activities also include distributing milk vetch seeds to farmers and selling hives to breed honeybees. As a beekeeping business, we are committed to thoroughly pursuing and continuing to practice what we can do within the great cycle of nature, and will strive to reach even greater heights as a beekeeping company.

Making hives to protect the bees
We build hives, which will serve as the bees' homes, in preparation for the winter when the bees rest their wings and the spring honey harvesting season.
The cedar wood used as the material is produced in Kumamoto Prefecture, and is dried thoroughly over a period of 2-3 months. Each part needed for the hive is then planed, and carefully finished over a period of approximately 7 months with millimeter-level precision. This hive construction, which is entirely done by hand by the beekeeping club members, can be called the culmination of the inheritance of over 70 years of beekeeping tradition and the accumulated ingenuity of young beekeepers. We will continue to evolve without being satisfied with the status quo.

"Healthy Beekeeping" in Practice Around the World
The beekeeping club members who practice "Healthy Beekeeping" in a global environment check the condition of local flowers and honeybees with their own eyes every year, and then visit the local flower farms around the world.
We work closely with beekeepers to produce the highest quality honey.
The honey from SUGI BEE GARDEN is "pure ripe honey" whose sugar content gradually increases due to the wind caused by the flapping of the bees' wings and which is then carefully matured.
We only deliver to you Manuka honey harvested in New Zealand that meets our unique standards.

Practicing "healthy beekeeping" through in-house cultivation
The beekeeping club members grow a variety of crops themselves, which are pollinated by honeybees.
The kumquats grown in our own orchard, which has approximately 1,200 trees, are all painstakingly hand-picked, from preventing pests with wood vinegar to thinning and harvesting to increase sugar content.
This is how delicious, plump, perfectly ripe kumquats are produced, blessed with the bounty of nature.
We create the best environment for our bees and crops with our own hands, and then deliver only the highest quality products to our customers. This has been the manufacturing philosophy of SUGI BEE GARDEN since it was founded.

Practicing "healthy beekeeping" as the starting point
In the midst of nature, beekeeping and agriculture are considered to be one and the same. In addition to beekeeping, our company practices natural agriculture, such as pollination by honeybees, and strives to protect the environment.
Continuing to protect the health of nature with our own hands is the first step to producing delicious honey.

Collaboration with local farmers
Beekeeping club members lend out beehives to local farmers in Kumamoto (over 1,200 boxes per year), actively promote pollination by honeybees, and help improve soil by distributing lotus seeds to rice farmers. They practice "healthy agricultural beekeeping" while deepening ties with local producers.
