A rare source of nectar in Vanuatu

Here are some of the flowers that are the main source of nectar for honeybees.

This is 【Malefutomomo】.

It is an evergreen tree that produces bright pink flowers, creating a vibrant glow all around underneath the tree.

Next is a deciduous tree called "cordia" locally.

It blooms with white flowers, can grow to a height of 30m, and is also used as timber.

Vanuatu is now in the hot and humid rainy season.

During this period from December to April, nectar sources become scarce and honeybees are hardly active.

Therefore, feeding the bees and taking measures against ants are very important during this time.

Our beekeeping staff instructs local beekeepers on feeding methods and typhoon countermeasures.

Checking the health of the bees all year round is essential to ensure that honey is harvested in good condition.

These flowers are not very well known in Japan.

I'm curious to know what kind of flavor the honey produced will have.
