We planted trees in Hamanaka Town, Hokkaido.

It has been about 20 years since we started mobile beekeeping in Hamanaka, Hokkaido, to harvest honey and build strong colonies of honeybees in Hokkaido.

In September of last year, the Hama-naka Town Hall, the NPO Kiritappu Wetland National Trust, and Sugi SUGI BEE GARDEN signed a "Basic Agreement for Creating a Honeybee Forest." (For more information, please see https://sugi-bee.com/mitubachimoridukuri/)

As a first step, on Friday, May 24th, we planted nectar sources in Hama-naka Town.On the day, about 30 people, including the three organizations mentioned above and volunteers, gathered and planted 100 each of "Philosophlox" and "Japanese horse chestnut" trees.

On this day, members of the beekeeping club, who harvest honey in Hama-naka Town every year, also participated. It was heartwarming to imagine the future when the seedlings they planted with their own hands grow into a nectar source with bees flying about happily.

We will continue our tree planting activities in the future, working hard to protect the environment for future generations and for the honeybees.
