The kumquat is growing vigorously!

In the kumquat field of SUGI BEE GARDEN, the kumquat fruits that started growing in July are gradually getting bigger. As we welcome the fruitful autumn, it is now the growth period for kumquats! The beekeeping members are carefully nurturing each one to ensure they grow delicious.

This is the first flower that bloomed in June.

Even if the flowers bloom, if the conditions such as temperature are not good, they may not bear fruit, and the flowers may fall off.
"I hope to have as many fruits as possible from the first and second flowers"
With such wishes in mind, the employees of the beekeeping department have been watching over the growth of the kumquat.

Late June. The kumquat seedling that I planted last spring has produced cute little fruits.
In August, the kumquat tree grows vigorously. During this time, we carefully remove each of the branches called "tochoushi" that grow vigorously. If the tochoushi grows too much, it can create shade and hinder the growth of the fruit, or touch the kumquat and cause damage. This is an important management task to deliver delicious kumquats.
Also, during the summer, as the weather is good and hot days continue, we also perform watering, known as "kansui." By making water spout from small holes, it can slowly seep into the ground, allowing for efficient watering.

On a day in September, we carried out fruit thinning work. We checked each fruit one by one, picking off small or damaged fruits. By selecting the fruits, we ensure that the remaining ones gather nutrients and grow larger. While we want many fruits to develop, it is also important to select them in order to cultivate delicious and large kumquats. To grow kumquats large and beautifully colored, it is necessary to pay attention to various factors such as temperature, weather, diseases, and pests. I watch over the growth of the kumquats while carefully performing each task.
Right now, the kumquats are still green.
I look forward to them growing even larger and turning yellow.
