On September 20th (Saturday), we held a learning event at the SUGI BEE GARDEN headquarters factory and interaction hall, organized in collaboration with the Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun.
On the day of the event, we had the participation of 20 children and their families, totaling about 40 people, making it a very lively event.
In this event, you experienced the following program.
Factory tour
- The ecology of honeybees and beekeeping
Beeswax Candle Making Experience
Comparison of 4 types of honey.

During the factory tour, we introduced the history and initiatives of SUGI BEE GARDEN, while allowing visitors to actually see the process of producing 'fruit juice honey'.

After that, while observing the bees up close in the actual beehive, the beekeeping club members explained the ecology of bees and the work of beekeeping.
The children are very curious about the bees, which they usually do not have the opportunity to see.
It was impressive to see the enthusiastic manner in which questions were actively asked even after the explanation had ended.
What is beeswax in the context of making beeswax candles?
Beeswax is a wax secreted from glands in the abdomen of worker bees, used as a material for honeybees to build their hives.

In the beeswax candle-making experience, you can enjoy creating a one-of-a-kind original candle together with your family.

In the final segment where we compared four types of honey, they were surprised by the differences in flavor of honeys they had never tasted before, such as Manuka honey, but they smiled at the deliciousness.

"Many people said, 'It was really delicious!' and the entire staff felt very happy about it."
We would be happy if this event serves as a helpful opportunity for the children’s future, even if just a little.
