It was built by Ashikaga Yoshimasa, the eighth Shogun of the Muromachi Shogunate, during the flourishing of Higashiyama culture during the Muromachi period. Just one street from the approach to Ginkakuji Temple is a promenade called the "Path of Philosophy," where you can experience the four seasons. It is a particularly atmospheric path with cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in autumn. It is one of Kyoto's most famous tourist spots, and in the townscape that is always bustling with tourists from both Japan and abroad, there is a shop that cherishes that atmosphere. In the shop, you can sample honey foods, as well as enjoy the very popular honey soft serve ice cream. Relax and soothe your tired body after visiting the temple with sweet honey. All of our staff look forward to welcoming you.
