Promoting the active participation of female employees (Chief Honda)

Manufacturing Technology Headquarters Production Management Section Chief
Honda Mami (joined the company as a new graduate in 2010)

"I am mainly in charge of managing the production of supplements (health food pellets, etc.) and stick-type fruit juice syrup in the factory, as well as ordering materials such as boxes to put the products in and label stickers. It's not just monotonous work, but also handling the production management system and dealing with external business partners, so I always have to predict what will happen and value teamwork. Although I don't have direct contact with customers, I put my heart into each and every product so that they will be even more pleased when they open the box at home after purchasing it."

"When I was a student and was interested in manufacturing, I heard a talk by the human resources manager at SUGI BEE GARDEN and became interested. After joining the company, I was given training in sales at the store and in beekeeping, so I learned about the difficulties faced by the people working in each department and the depth of beekeeping. The experience I gained at that time is still useful to me today. I feel rewarded by being involved in the creation of products that please customers as a united company.
In March 2019, a new factory was opened behind the existing factory, further improving the working environment. For example, with the extra space, new machinery for managing materials was installed, and the room that was previously used for boxing supplements was converted into a large break room.

"Currently, I am raising my two children and working reduced hours from 9am to 5pm. As the company is predominantly female, it is very attractive that they offer comprehensive systems for maternity leave and reduced working hours for childcare. They also accommodate sudden requests for time off, such as when a child has a fever, which is very helpful. There are many female part-timers at the factory, and as my children are close in age to my boss's children, I sometimes consult with them as a parent and they always look out for me.
What I value most about balancing work and family life is "smiles and consideration." I always try to be conscious of interacting with my children with a smile at key moments throughout the day, such as when I drop them off at daycare or when they go to bed."
