Promoting the active participation of female employees (Sub-Manager Oda)

Sales Business Headquarters Kumamoto City Area Sub-Manager
Mai Oda (joined the company as a new graduate in 2011)

"I am in charge of sales and store operations at multiple stores in my area. Specifically, I share good practices from other stores to make customers happier and increase sales, train sales staff at the stores, and manage inventory. The store staff live in their own areas and rarely go to the head office, so I also act as a liaison between the head office and the field, just like a salesman."

"I specialized in nutritional chemistry in my student days, so I chose SUGI BEE GARDEN because it offered a wide range of positions and opportunities and allowed me to put my knowledge to good use. After working at the call center for about a year and as a store staff member in the city for several years, I was promoted to manager of the Kumamoto City area. In fact, after joining the company, there was a time when I was worried about my career. I talked to my boss at the time, and he suggested that I use the product knowledge and my abilities I had acquired in a different position, and that's how I got to where I am today. I am grateful for the response of my boss and the company.
I am currently working part-time while raising my child. I am busy taking my child to and from nursery school and getting home after work, but with the support of the store staff, I am able to spend fulfilling days."

"When I interact with customers as a sales staff in a store, I don't immediately impart product knowledge. Instead, I place importance on the way I greet them when they come in, the way I greet them, and the casual conversation I have. Also, there are times when customers who came to the store with their parents as children come back as adults with their families. That's why I try to provide memorable customer service, regardless of age.
As a manager, I am conscious of communicating and following up with each person in a way that suits them from the customer's and company's perspectives. For example, I give instructions on display and ordering after analyzing the store's sales data, and instead of following my own preferences, I say, 'This is how it was done at other stores and customers were pleased with it, so why don't you try it out,' and when something is unclear, I say, 'This is the company's policy, we do it this way,' and I always try to think from the customer's and company's perspectives while respecting the other person.
