We conducted tree planting in Kumamoto Prefecture!

At SUGI BEE GARDEN, we conduct tree planting activities every year around this time in Kumamoto Prefecture, which serve as an important nectar source for bees.
This time, we implemented a total of 60 trees of 6 different species in an area near our headquarters.

When planting, first consider the size it will grow to in the future and decide on the planting location.

Once the location is decided, dig a hole that is large enough to accommodate the root ball (the seedling's roots and soil wrapped in a burlap sack), place the seedling in the hole, cover it with soil, and water it generously to complete the planting.

We conducted an interview with the beekeeping club staff who participated in tree planting.

How was the condition of the saplings this time?
This time, all the saplings were large and gave a sense of security.
When saplings are small, they compete with weeds for nutrients and sunlight, and may wither due to losing that competition, but this time I felt less worried about that!
―Please share your thoughts on the tree planting experience.
This time, the saplings were larger than usual, so the root balls were also bigger, and it was necessary to dig deeper holes than usual.
Moreover, the soil was hard, and there were moments when I struggled to dig as I wanted with the shovel, but I was able to successfully plant all the saplings!
In the future, as the temperature rises, the surrounding weeds will increase, so I plan to regularly mow the grass.
I will continue to carefully nurture the trees that were planted so that they can grow vigorously.

We will continue our tree-planting activities with the aim of creating a healthy environment where honeybees and humans can coexist.
